ECED 2083 - Introduction to Early Childhood Education Credits: 3
This course is designed to provide an overview of the field of early childhood education. Included are the following topics: historical and philosophical perspectives of early childhood; growth and development of children from ages birth to eight; current trends in early childhood education; age-appropriate and developmentally appropriate lesson planning; what constitutes a supportive environment for young children; and the development of a professional Christian attitude towards children. This course requires a 5-hour field experience in an early childhood education classroom. Teaching candidates will tutor students in an individual or small group setting during their field experience.
