OCTH 6452 - Occupational Therapy Evaluation & Interventions II: Neurological Conditions Credits: 2
This course examines and applies occupation-based theories and evidence-informed approaches to the care of adults with neurological injuries and conditions. Students will explore the challenges faced by individuals with neurological impairments, including issues related to cognition, communication, dysphagia and feeding, visual-perceptual skills, and motor control, all within the context of enhancing occupational performance. Emphasizing the value of each person as created in the image of God, students will learn to conduct neurological evaluations, identify best-practice treatment protocols for specific deficits, and develop and implement evidence-based, client-centered intervention plans. The course also includes an in-person experiential lab component, providing hands-on opportunities to practice these skills in a compassionate and faith-driven environment.
