PA 6409 - Clinical and Therapeutic Medicine III Credits: 9 Fall
This comprehensive course is third in a series of three courses that adopt a systems-based approach to the foundational content in clinical medicine and disease processes. This course focuses on the prevention, presentation, diagnosis, and treatment of disease. Additionally, it explores therapeutic medicine and the intricacies of pharmacology, equipping students with the knowledge and skills necessary for effective medication management in diverse clinical settings. Through a comprehensive exploration of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic principles, drug naming conventions, therapeutic decision-making, and the pharmacology of specific drug classes, students will develop expertise in rational drug therapy. Special emphasis is placed on evidence-based practices, patient-centered care, and considerations for special populations. This term will focus on neurology, psychology and population-based settings such as women’s health, pediatrics, geriatrics, surgery, emergency medicine, and vulnerable pateint populations.
