    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in the U.S. or foreign equivalent as approved by specific program with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.   
    • Students with a GPA within the range of 2.0-3.0 may be conditionally accepted into the MAT Program at Oklahoma Baptist University. Conditional acceptance is contingent upon the submission of additional admissions materials, as determined by the program director. These materials may include letters of recommendation, a statement of purpose, a resume, or additional academic transcripts.

In Person Courses  
  • The MA in Teaching offers a unique 16 week in-person option available to current students. The in-person courses are stacked with corresponding undergraduate courses. The two levels will meet in conjunction with one another, but as an MA student you will have a separate syllabus with additional assignments, lengthened papers, more rigorous assessments, and/or other learning and teaching opportunities. As an integrated student seeking the Integrated MA in Teaching option there will be an additional $100 fee for that course.  
Online Courses  
  • Our integrated classes are offered in the traditional graduate format of 8-week online classes.  
Transfer Credit Policy 

Students enrolled in the Master of Arts in Teaching graduate degree program, which requires the completion of 36 credit hours, may transfer a maximum of 15 graduate-level credit hours from an accredited institution, subject to the following conditions: 

  1. 1. Eligibility & Accreditation: Transfer credits must be from a regionally accredited institution and earned at the graduate level with a grade of B (3.0) or higher. Pass/fail courses are not eligible for transfer. 
  2. Relevance & Approval: Courses must align with the program’s curriculum and be approved by the program directors. Students must submit an official transcript for evaluation. Approval is at the discretion of the program faculty and is not guaranteed. 

  3. Time Limit: Credits must have been earned within the last five years from the date of transfer request. 

  4. Residency Requirement: At least 21 credit hours must be completed at Oklahoma Baptist University to fulfill residency requirements. 

Advanced Standing Policy 

Advanced standing can be granted if a student previously completed an education degree from OBU with a cumulative grade point average of 2.5 or higher. Upon review of the transcript, up to 6 hours of advanced standing can be awarded for the MAT degree. 

        Graduation Requirements 
  • Successful completion of required hours to complete degree (30-36).  
  • Cumulative grade point average of 3.0 in all OBU coursework.   
  • Fulfillment of all financial obligations to the University.  
  • Payment of graduation fee.  
  • Approval by the Council of Online, Nontraditional, and Graduate Education minus student membership.
